The water cycle is a natural system that describes the constant movement of water from the surface of the Earth to the atmosphere and back. It involves processes including evaporation, transpiration, precipitation amongst others. During the process, when the liquid form of water is heated by the sun, it turns into vapour, rising into the atmosphere. When cooled, the vapour turns back into liquid before falling back to the ground in the form of rain. This process endlessly cycles.
The presented work replicates this cycle by using a humidifier and dehumidifier. The humidifier operates constantly and when the humidity in the room reaches 45%, a humidity sensor switch automatically turns on a fan and the dehumidifier. When on, the fan circulates moisture laden air towards the dehumidifier that will switch off when the humidity lowers to 45%, this being the ideal range for paper preservation.
